Yesterday I was encouraging someone about their use of words … spoken or written.
PROVERBS 15:20-21 A man’s [moral] self shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; and with the consequence of his words he must be satisfied [whether good or evil]. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]. AMP
Later that day I was having to exercise every bit of “word control” that I could muster – and succeeded cause Greater is He that’s in me than he that’s in the world (1 JOHN 4:4). I wanted to talk with someone so bad about something I’d discovered about a situation … but I knew it was not appropriate … again, thank God for being the Greater One in me!
It takes self-control … self-discipline to not say what I’m not supposed to say. And writing it to myself or someone else is not a “get-out-of-jail” card or a “pass go” card. Nope. As I heard one preacher minister on this … God’s first words were not for communication. They were for empowerment … to cause things to happen.
My words are either gonna be for God to watch over His Word to do His good in my life, or for the devil to act on against me. He’s only like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour, but he is looking to devour, so he’s listening to every word I say that might empower him to bring something that steals, kills or destroys into my life!
I’m saying, “I will remember that the devil can’t do anything to me unless I give him permission through ignorance or disobedience. I will remember that words authorize and empower God to carry out His will in my life, or, they authorize and empower the devil to carry out his will in my life. It’s up to me … and I’m coming boldly to the Throne of Grace today to receive Mercy for my failures, and more Grace to help me control my words and discipline my thinking. I take it. I have it. I thank You, and I forgive and love as You’ve forgiven and love me … so Mercifully. All in Jesus name.”
