Her face smiled warmly towards me as the words tumbled out of my mouth; tenderness bathed each word she spoke to me; her overall demeanor emanating, “I’m listening … I wanna be a help to you” … this is who sat across from me in the car that day, the mother of an old high school friend that I hadn’t seen for years.
I’d just been freshly snatched out of hell’s door by the tender mercies of God. Jesus had shown up, so therefore LIGHT, and I could SEE there was another way. I couldn’t resist His compassionate healing power. I was radically changed, but totally ignorant, and with woefully debilitated brain function from all the drugs.
I desperately needed those who looked past the mess, and moved towards me with a soft heart, all bathed in the love of Jesus.
I’m saying, “Lord, I’m looking to grow in this … to grow faster and deeper in this than ever before … having this soft heart towards everyone. I want to be the one that You can use anytime anywhere just like those You used to give me stability when I was negative minus. I know it’s all in me cause You’re in me, so I’m asking for more mercy and grace to help turn me inside out so those around me clearly know they’re received; that You’re not mad at them, but You’ve made a way for them to jump into Your love. I take this. I have it. I thank You, and I WILL to forgive and love as You’ve forgiven and love me … so Mercifully. All in Jesus name.”
2 CORINTHIANS 5:16-20 … we don’t evaluate people by what they have or how they look … Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone … All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other.
